Explore England's social folk dance heritage in fine detail.
These new classes are for confident dancers with a solid grounding in English social folk dance. They provide the opportunity to improve dance technique and quality, and explore a more complex and diverse repertoire.
The workshops are aimed at those who have gained a broad experience of English country dances and wish to improve their knowledge and skills.
As a guideline, the class is tailored to meet the skill levels of dancers who have attended our English Country Dancing class, or a class of a similar nature, for approximately a year before joining these workshops.
This sociable class is open to everyone over the age of 16 years - there's no need to bring a partner.

The dances are led by tutor and caller Mary Panton.
Mary Panton, proud owner of an EFDSS Jubilee medal, is well known as a caller of English ceilidhs. She draws from many styles such as English Country Dance, English and Scottish Ceilidh, Pat Shaw Dances, Reeling and Contra. Over the past 40 years Mary has called across the UK with some of the best dance bands in the country.
Mary enjoys discovering new dances to teach and loves introducing folk dance to people who are new to it. She is known for her clear instruction and passion for eclectic dances. Her classes will revolve around the less familiar dances, focusing on the interesting twists the dances contain.
Classes will be accompanied by Ben Moss.
